Dear Katharine Rechico, Thank you for your service to Canada and the world. We are climate leaders with Citizens’ Climate Lobby (CCL) Canada, part of a network of active chapters in 51 countries, including 40 in Canada. Our U.S. colleagues, Citizens’ Climate Lobby, are founding members of the Carbon Pricing Leadership Coalition, and I have led civil society delegations to the World Bank since 2011. The climate crisis is worsening, and the need for decisive global action has never been more urgent. As we face increasing impacts, intensifying efforts is essential. The World Trade Organization has highlighted the necessity of a global carbon price to prevent trade conflicts, reinforcing the importance of coordinated action. We are concerned by the recent quietness of the Carbon Pricing Leadership Coalition (CPLC). It is critical for the CPLC to remain focused and ambitious, guided by the FASTER Principles and Article 6.8 of the Paris Agreement, ensuring that carbon pricing mechanisms benefit everyone equitably. As taxpayers, we believe it is vital that the World Bank continues to fund and convene this essential work. We urge the World Bank to provide ongoing leadership and funding for the CPLC, including support for its Secretariat to keep partners informed, organized, and prepared for critical events such as the World Bank Spring and Fall Meetings, the G7 and G20 Summits, and the UN Climate Change negotiations. This support will significantly advance global carbon pricing efforts and strengthen international cooperation. Thank you for your leadership and commitment to addressing the climate crisis. Sincerely, Kind regards, Cathy Orlando, Sudbury ON co-signees Mary Blake Rose, London, ON
