Citizens' Climate Lobby Canada

We want a liveable world, so we want to see bold action to fight climate change. Since 2010, we have been meeting monthly. We have empowered thousands of volunteers to engage their elected leaders in conversation and advocate for the legislation and policies we need to make that liveable world a reality.

Since 2010, we have been meeting monthly. We have empowered thousands of volunteers to engage their elected leaders in conversation and advocate for the legislation and policies we need to make that liveable world a reality. In the first quarter of 2024 CCL Canada members  reported a total 1046 actions. You can read more about all we did in the first quarter in CCL Canada’s Q1 Report (2024) By the end of the second quarter of 2024 our metrics from the first half of 2024 equaled or exceeded our metrics from all of 2023 in six key categories! January 5, 2024:Demystifying Carbon Pricing with Laser Talks Booklet
Are you inclined to favour carbon pricing? Dive into our Laser Talks booklet, a powerful resource released in January, offering evidence-based communication to counter climate deflectors, deniers, delayers and doomers. Learn to respond effectively to questions like “Does Canada’s carbon price affect the price of food?” Spoiler alert: (Ah, no). Download your own copy of the booklet here. 

January 10, 2024: Advocacy in Action – Emission Caps in Oil and Gas Sector
Kudos to the over two dozen members who sent comment letters on Canada’s legislation for emission caps in the oil and gas sector. Canada is leading the way as the first major oil-producing country with such caps in the oil and gas sector. Check out our contributions here.

We’re thrilled to share insights into our 2024-2025 strategic planning through an insightful video, slides and our vision of the road ahead:  

February 6 to March 10, 2024: Growing Together Through Onboarding
We are in the process of revamping our onboarding process. We are highly organized and use a proven theory of change. We are seeking carbon pricing champions who wish to build political will locally for carbon pricing and especially form a relationship with their Member of Parliament around redirecting financial flows away from fossil fuels as fast and fairly as possible. February 9, 2024: Love for the Planet – Open Letter on Budget2024
Before Valentine’s Day, nearly 50 leaders signed an Open Letter to Canada’s finance minister, expressing love for the planet and urging action in Budget2024. Read it here.

February 14: Valentine’s Victory – CCL Canada’s Lobbying Triumph!
Celebrate with us as CCL Canada’s lobbying efforts result in the rebranding of Climate Action Incentive Payment (CAIP) to Canada Carbon Rebate and making that rebate more obvious in our bank statements. It is never too late to share your love for the Canada Carbon Rebate by liking and sharing our Instagram, Twitter and Facebook posts. 

February 26, 2024: Ontario’s Energy Transformation – A Milestone Media Scrum
For the second time in six months, we hosted a breakfast at Queen’s Park and lobbied our MPPs for energy and climate policies that lay the foundation for a sustainable future. This time we united with nine other other organizations and co-hosted a breakfast at Queen’s Park where 58 advocates from across Ontario lobbied 14 MPPs and 4 staffers representing all political parties. Then, we were invited by the NDP to do our very first media scrum in a parliament building. Relive our historic event at Queen’s Park here and our first media scrum here.
