The date for CCL Canada’s 2018 National conference in Ottawa is Saturday, October 13 to Tuesday, October 16, 2018. Go HERE.

Note the week of October 8-12 is a Parliamentary recess and Reading Week for many Canadian Universities, thus people could lobby the week before the conference too in their home ridings.

CCL International Calls

Since September 2010, Canadians have been joining CCL USA on their monthly calls.  The CCL international call is conducted on the second Saturday on the Zoom Line.  Look at the action sheets for full details.

CCL Canada calls 

Since November 2011, Canadian group leaders have had our own calls. Group leaders pick one call to sit in on. They take place on the Canadian  Uberline (please look in the action sheets). Here is the schedule for Canadian calls that take place around the international call:

  • The Thursday before, (6 pm PT/ 7 pm MT/ 8 pm CT/ 9 pm ET / 10 pm AT)
  • The Friday before  (8 am PT / 9 am MT / 10 am CT / 11 am ET / 12 pm AT)
  • The Monday after the call 6 (6 pm PT/ 7 pm MT/ 8 pm CT/ 9 pm ET / 10 pm AT)

For five years now we have had our own monthly CCL Canada Education Calls too usually two or three weeks after the monthly international call on a Tuesday and sometimes Thursdays (time varies) and they take place in the Canada-Australia CCL Zoom Room 3920795005 (please look in Action Sheets and emails for details)

  • January 22-24, 2018 – Carbon pricing “club” of the Americas meeting in Chile
  • February 2, 2018 – 11th anniversary of the Fourth report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC IV)
  • Late February / March 2018 – Canadian Federal budget is usually released. What will be the carbon pricing details? Will there be Border Tax Adjustments? Which fossil fuel subsidies will be phased out next?
  • February 12, 2018, Comments on the draft legislative proposals to implement the federal carbon pricing system are welcome until February 12, 2018, at carbonpricing-tarificationcarbone@canada.ca
  • March 21-23, 2018 – Climate Reality Leader training, Mexico

  • Earth Day (April 22) – April is a great month for outreach, letters to the editor, OpEds and visits to Editorial Boards.
  • April 2018 proposed CCL Ontario Online Conference to prepare our volunteers for Town halls in Ontario for election 2018. Date TBA in February
  • May 16-17, 2018: Summit: Women Kicking it on Climate will  bring women climate leaders from around the world to Canada to dig into an ambitious agenda that includes recognizing the gendered impacts of climate change, landing the Paris Rulebook at COP24, the transition to clean energy, supporting increased resilience and adaptive capacity among Indigenous communities and the most vulnerable, etc.

  •  Tuesday, June 5, 2018 – World Environment Day  run by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) #WorldEnvironmentalDay
