10 Things CCL Canada Achieved this year 

We literally have the best volunteers on the planet. Please take a moment to celebrate their collective achievements. There were many group and individual achievements that we are not reporting here because the list would never end. As well, our final action tracker numbers will not be ready until the new year.

1. JANUARY: We conducted a national organizing conference to plan together our Action Teams for the year and plan our major events. And we are doing it again in January 2023.
2. MAY: We built a Giant Dreamcatcher on Parliament Hill with seven politicians, including MPs from all four political parties in Canada.
3. MAY: We held our first in-person conference and lobbying days in Ottawa since the COVID pandemic struck in March 2020.
4. JULY: We finally got carbon pricing rebates cheques directly and not through our income taxes. We had an online Parliamentary Petition specifically asking for direct rebates and we lobbied over 1,000 times from September 2010 to December 2020 to get those cheques. The government announced in December 2020 that it was going to happen and it became a reality in July 2022.
5. OCTOBER: We held an online national conference where we explored the EnROADS simulator with parliamentarians from four provinces and all three major political parties. It is our most-viewed video on our YouTube and our most-attended online conference.
6. ALL YEAR: Our Senate Action Team built relationships with five Senators.
7. NATIONAL LTE team: For years a team behind the scenes has been sending out alerts to fellow letter-to-the-editor (LTE) writers. Starting this year, every month, once a month, CCL Calgary hosted an LTE writing session and produced significant results. Their hit rate in newspapers is really high.
8. DIGITAL CAMPAIGNS: We conducted four digital campaigns and achieved our goals. Every time over 300 letters were sent from Canadians. These are very wonky and specific asks. Thus, we were not expecting huge sign-on numbers. Thank you to everyone who took the time to read and sign these letters.

9. ACTION SHEETS AND MONTHLY EDUCATION: As per usual since September 2010 we sent out actions sheets and met every single month (two times to choose from) as a national team on time and like clockwork. We also had superb separate education calls this year about BCAs, the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty, how CCL Canada is perceived outside Canada, Because IPCC and About “that” PBO Report.
10. SOCIAL MEDIA AND WEBSITE Overall, we maintained a fair and vibrant presence on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. The Canadian CCL website is dynamic and is a pretty good window to the world. And we maintain all this with no paid staff.
