BLOG: The Transformative Power of Coming to terms with Climate Change
At the heart of our climate crisis is each person’s story.
At CCL Canada’s November 2016 conference, Marlo Firme of Vancouver, BC shared a disarmingly honest account of his personal struggle with climate change and how his struggle has changed the way he sees himself and others.
Watch Marlo’s 3 minute speech below, which has also been featured in Vancity Buzz.
CCL Canada respectfully acknowledges that the work we support stretches across the homes of many First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples on Turtle Island and that their traditional knowledge must be significantly incorporated as part of meaningful action on the climate crisis. We acknowledge that they are traditional owners and custodians of this land and that for decades they have been the first line of defence against climate breakdown. Indigenous resistance has stopped at least 1.8 billion metric tonnes of greenhouse gas pollution on Turtle Island.
Citizens’ Climate Lobby Canada is a non-partisan, non-profit advocacy organization founded in 2010.
We are grateful to our network of volunteers across Canada. It is a huge lift redirecting financial flows towards a thriving and equitable future. Focus is their superpower, and they are reminded regularly that our official talking points are found in our laser talks and media releases.
