Almost 13,000 people have signed the petition for a Canadian Referendum on Carbon Fee and Dividend. CCLer Keith McNeil wrote the Care2 petition for a referendum on carbon fee and dividend. He outlined to us an impeccable promotion plan, which included a huge mainstream media component and a well-thought-out publicity event in early June in Ottawa. The petition has caught the attention of Care2 and now they are promoting it. Since Care2 has over 27 million subscribers, this is really exciting. Congratulations Keith and thank you for helping us create the political will for a progressive carbon price for Canada by Election 2015. Please sign and share the petition. |

World Changing Conversations: Sudburians have an important opportunity to send an MPP to Toronto who will represent the desire of Sudburians to see a price on carbon. Candidates have been invited to come share their views on and rationale for what carbon pricing policy they would champion at Queen's Park. Rather than a debate, this is just an informal 10 minute discussion. Candidates who are unavailable can submit written answers to be read at the event. Carbon taxes are a central issue in Sudbury's bi-election. Politicians are bravely saying out loud the Phrase-That-Cannot-Be-Spoken: CARBON TAX. Because Sudbury was the very first Canadian CCL chapter, it's been over four years now that CCL Sudbury members have been building relationships with their media and politicians. So, while it's not surprising, it is exciting that carbon pricing has been discussed in the both of the first all-candidate events and their media coverage. This is a hopeful sign for all the CCLers across Canada who are committed to raising carbon pricing as an issue in this federal election. |
