Work Experience:
  • Since September 2011:  full time as the National Manager of Citizens’ Climate Lobby Canada. 
  • Since April 2008: a Climate Reality Presenter. Shared over 100 presentations in the first two years of training. In July 2015, volunteered to be a Climate Reality Mentor and the application was accepted.
  • Between September 2005 and September 2011: Science Outreach Coordinator to the Dean of Science and Engineering at Laurentian University.
  • From September 1999 to September 2005: full-time permanent contract teacher with the Rainbow District School Board in Greater Sudbury. She resigned from her teaching career (and a great pension) because the climate crisis was bearing down on her conscious and she realised a teacher’s  pension in 2040 would be worthless in a climate-wrecked world.
  • MSc and published twice in peer-reviewed journals as the first author. Thus she understands the scientific method and the scrutiny of the peer-review process.
  • Educational author  – lead developer of a science outreach book and workshop for scientists and engineers that trained them how to share science, engineering and technology with the general public called Science with Impact. 
Mainstream  Media Hits Summary
  • In October 2008, Cathy wrote her first blog ever on the Greennexxus / One Million Acts of Green website, called My Green Sudbury about how her  city of Sudbury gives her hope.  CBC Newsworld loved it and sent a news crew to her house in Sudbury and made a 4 minute documentary that aired on CBC Newsworld in December 2008.
  • In the past two years, she has had at least 107 letters to the editor, 33 articles and 24 OpEds published about climate change and carbon pricing. She has had letters published in every province Canada.
  • Recently, the three notable moments on the radio were:
    Cathy was the “Al Gore” interviewee on the CBC’s  World at Six on Friday, July 10, 2015.  Her interview was woven into the news piece on the Al Gore Training in Toronto. What captured CBC’s attention was her story about why she is motivated to do this work.
    On Sunday, November 29, 2015, Cathy was the lead interviewee (12 minute mark) on Cross Country Check Up’s What do you expect from the Paris climate summit?
